Your decision will depend on your application needs, future use cases, and budget.
Multi-sensor compatible TEC controllers allow you to pick the temperature sensor that best fits your needs for a specific application, while giving you the flexibility to adapt to varying laser diode/sensor changes in your work environment. While they offer more convenience, multi-sensor compatible TEC controllers may come in at a higher cost and require additional calibration to ensure proper performance with each supported sensor type. As these controllers may not be optimized for the characteristics of a specific temperature sensor, there could be performance trade-offs when compared to controllers optimized for a specific sensor.
Single-Sensor TEC Controllers do not offer the same flexibility and compatibility as multi-sensor TEC controllers, but they are tuned for optimal performance with a specific sensor (e.g.: 10kΩ NTC thermistor). This ensures the best performance for a specific sensor setup, and single-sensor controllers may often be more cost-effective due to fewer internal components. However, the end user runs the risk of the TEC controller being unusable if sensor requirements change.
